FRIED RICE
FRIED RICE
INGREDIENTS:
4-6 cups cooked brown rice, chilled
2 tbs Sesame Oil
2 tbs vegetable oil
1/2-1 cup frozen peas
1 medium onion
3 eggs beaten
4 tbs Soy Sauce
salt
pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Heat the sesame and vegetable oil on medium high heat, add onion, cook just till onion is translucent. Add frozen peas. Add cooked rice, salt, pepper. In separate pan I scramble the 3 eggs. Add to the rice. Add soy sauce and take off heat.
*I scramble my egg separate from my rice because when I've tried scrambling it in the same pan as rice the rice gets really gooey. I sometimes add ham or chicken. I like my made up recipe as does the rest of my family but it never is like the Chinese restaurant fried rice. Something is missing? I've tried practically all the recipes that can be found online because fried rice has always been one of my favorite dishes. They are all similar to the one above just varied on the ingredients. I've tried adding Chinese 5 spice but I don't like the flavor it gives the rice so I nixed it. If anyone has other ways of making it I'd love to hear and try out!
